Aretha Franklin

Known as “the Queen of soul,” Aretha Franklin was a celebrated and revered American singer, song-writher who demanded and got “respect” throughout her brilliant carrier as an entertainer.

She was born in Tennessee on March 25, 1942. As many American entertainers, Aretha debuted singing gospel songs in public at a very early age. Later, her commanding singing style made her one of the leading singer-songwriters in the R&B genre of music.
